(Pic: Rehearsal for a Wedding Flash Mob…constant fun and laughter!)

Traditionally, the first dance at a wedding is a symbol of the union of two people  –  a way to announce that these two individuals are united and will move forward through life together.  What we are seeing now is an expansion on that tradition.  Not only do we see the honor of the traditional first dance, but it has been blended with nuances to reflect who these individuals are.  While attending a wedding, many times we can see  what is important to this couple through their movement and choices of music.  Sometimes we see their heritage or what they deem important in their lives.  Many times we are introduced to their goals and dreams.  Using a “Flash Mob” to begin a ceremony or kick off a reception also allows us a glimpse into the heartbeat of the couple.  Over the years we have enjoyed editing music, choreographing wedding dances and their participants to help a couple or family convey exactly what they are feeling through music and dance.  So, the next time you attend a wedding, look a little closer at the movement and listen more intently to the music.  It will open up a whole new understanding of the ceremony you are witness to.
