“It’s smarter to be lucky than it’s lucky to be smart” – one of my favorite lines of lyric from the musical, Pippin.
We’re still in amazement at our good fortune to have been contacted by producer Ricky Kej to record material for his album, Winds of Samsara, with harpist Anne Roos. It wasn’t a connection that happens every day. You see, Ricky works out of his studio in Bangalore, India. And his collaboration with South African flutist, Wouter Kellerman, has been a truly global endeavor involving scores of musicians and facilities worldwide. What a wonderful thing it is to be part of a musical project that is being generated from the other side of the planet. Even more magical is when that album finds its way to a GRAMMY nomination!
So we’re on our way in a couple of weeks to go root for Winds of Samsara at the GRAMMY presentations at the Staples Center in L.A. The GRAMMYs are always a treat to attend. This year, for us the announcement for Best New Age Album will be especially exciting. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for Ricky Kej and Wouter Kellerman.
