Listening to live music fills us up like no other medium. Of course, we fill our hearts with music. But did you ever consider what you bring to the artist by your active participation as a listener? The fully engaged audience provides the artist the working environment to practice their craft. There is only one way to learn the art of performance and that is to perform. We are fortunate to live near a University and Community College and in a city with an active arts community. This spring there were over 100 musical events, most of them free and open to the community. We had the opportunity to listen to students just beginning their musical journey as well as established musicians continuing their craft. Give the gift of supporting artists as they continue to refine their craft. Be an audience member. As an active listener, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you bring an essential element to the performance.
