While working in the front office, I often hear the incredible music being made in our studios or witness an advertising executive’s idea leap into the air in our radio room. I catch myself saying “Wow, that is so creative!” And then I remind myself that our creative work is like a muscle. When we use it a lot, it builds strength. When we make a habit of using it, we are, well… strongly creative. This idea is beautifully laid out in a book, The Creative Habit, written by Twyla Tharp, one of my all time favorite choreographers. Even though she comes from the world of dance, her words speak to anyone trying to give their creative muscles a start, or a work out.
I am reminded that when we work in our music studio, radio room or even our movement space here at Tanglewood, we are working our creative muscles. Daily we are asked to bring an idea to reality. We listen to our clients, work with them, and bring our expertise, experience, discipline, and a very strong creative muscle. So, if you want a creative workout, come join us here at Tanglewood!
(By the way, we can give a strong recommendation for Twyla Tharp’s book. Get it!)
